artistic statement, 2010

my work is not aesthetically about anything. i aim to make dances from my heart. the product will be vile at  times, at others, almost ethereal.

thought of you
 a dance animation film

"Thought of You" by Ryan J. Woodward

i wish the video could show here but i think this simple animation video of a pas de deux is both heartfelt and emotional. in this late hour, it has me thinking and wishing and wanting to move around but i am fully stuffed from an evening of holiday parties.

i want it to be summmer. i want to ride a bike. and also to make a blueberry crisp!!

come to the holiday show and tell!

In the spirit of free everything nyc during the wintertime, I am sending out an invitation to the Council for Arts and Humanities annual holiday show and tell! The show and tell encourages artists of all mediums (dance, poetry, visual, performative, music, photography, etc.) to present samples (live, dvd/cd, performance, etc.) of their work and in the meantime, drink some free tea/coffee. The show and tell takes place Thursday, December 16th at the Everything Goes Cafe in St. George, Staten Island, literally 5 minutes from the ferry (also free).

Everything Goes Cafe is a used book store and fair-trade, organic cafe that specializes in local, farm recipes and very often rare find books. They have a holiday book sale going on right now.

I will be premiering a short dance-film with live performance, Three Ladies Dancing, at the show and tell and hope
you all can come and show some love.

Today, the air is crisp and there is much of that holiday love-buzz going on. Everyone seems to be in that holiday spirit and as all positive energy, it is completely infectious. So, come on out and share some art and tea with us tomorrow at 8.00pm!

all there is ever was and is

nighfall, squibnocket sound, september 2010.

the world is constantly changing, moving. the leaves are all gone. wintery sun peaks through. i am lost but will be found. i love cherries by the waterside. early morning ferry rides. travels within my mind and body. persimmon cookies. pageantry and the ritual. the movings-on; the cold air imbibing my lungs... feeling alive.

**

so, i have been thinking a lot about my life as artwork and many things are coming from this. amongst other things, i have a feeling of liberation that is growing with each exploration i do. i do not feel tied to any one place within the world of art. i want all of me to pour from each orifice of my art and for it to always be that way.

my life as a honeybee. a worker bee. working.
cheers.
